    I absolutely love to eat and enjoy great food but doing it all in moderation. You'll see healthy, organic foods on here frequently but you'll also run into things such as pizza and sweets. I believe you can have it all... just not all at once.

Party Number 2- Done

We are back from the wedding and reception and are pooped. It’s been a busy day and I am happy that I’m about to climb into bed.

The wedding was great. It always brings tears to my eyes to watch people step into holy matrimony. I find myself thinking back to our wedding day and it was so perfect that I can’t imagine what we could do differently to make it any more special.

After we got in the car after the wedding, I wanted to take a picture of our rings.  This is one shot we forgot to get on our wedding day!  Boo!

Which, by the way, isn’t the hubs original wedding ring.  He lost 20 pounds after we got married and his other titanium ring was way too big!  So we bought this new titanium ring when we were in Vegas on a vacation a year and a half ago.  And I have to say, I like it better than the original.  Another fun fact: My engagement ring is actually the hubs grandmother’s wedding ring.  We had my two bands custom made to match.  Makes it that much more special to me.

We headed to the reception and sat down with some finger food appetizers first.

Then the wedding party arrived and it was time to eat.  I was sure to get a lot of green on my plate since my plate from the graduation party was lacking in the green.

Salad, green beans, potatoes, cheese tortellini, chicken cordon bleu, and beef tenderloin.  Oops, can’t forget the roll.

I waited around just to grab some cake.  Such a pretty presentation.

The pictures I took of the slice of cake I grabbed weren’t good at all because of the low lighting so you’ll just have to picture a slice of strawberry cake.

Here’s us… not the best picture because we are worn out but it will suffice for now.

We have an extremely early morning ahead of us and another jam-packed day tomorrow.  So who knows when I’ll be able to blog.  I might be iPhoning it tomorrow morning.  I’m hurrying off of here so I can wash my face and climb into bed.  A 6:30 wake up call is going to come way too fast!  Nite!

What’s your favorite part of a wedding?

I have two: Watching the dad give his daughter away ALWAYS brings tears to my eyes and when the couple is first announced as Mr. and Mrs. to walk back down the aisle to leave.  That was such a special moment for our wedding and will never forget doing a little jump and squeal as I turned around, grabbed my bouquet of flowers and my husband’s arm for them to announce our new name!  I loved every second.


Boring? Or Tasty?

The only bad thing about leftovers is that I feel like it bores you all. But that’s what my lunch is today and it still tastes delicious so bear with me.

Another roll slipped into the mix. I can’t say I’m disappointed.

We have another nurses reception this afternoon and rumor has it they will have a fountain flowing of milk chocolate! Hello! I’m totally there! Especially since I’m on my own with dinner tonight. The hubs has a meeting so I’ll probably eat a hodge podge, something simple or nothing at all. I have figured out that I eat more when he’s around because we cook together or he cooks, and it’s more enjoyable to eat with someone else. By myself, it’s just not as fun.

Can I just say… I’m officially obsessed with Greek yogurt?! I will never voluntarily buy the regular yogurt again!  Oikos does it right and I can’t wait to try some other brands too!  The blueberry fruit on the bottom yogurt was exceptional.  I was totally satisfied and happy after eating it for my afternoon snack.

I came home to a wonderfully made meal tonight.

This Barbecue sauce is money!  Look for it in a store near you.  I’m so proud of our Memphis barbecue sauce.  Way to do it right Memphis!

I’ll take it.  I’m such a bread fanatic.  🙂

With a little bit of chocolate for dessert.  The bunny is almost gone!

Well, with such a great post, there comes some bad news.  My right big toenail will not heal for anything and I discovered today that my second toenail on my right foot (that I had a feeling would fall off) is only attaced 1/4 of the way.  I had pulled away a callous that had built up on that toe and lo and behold, it release 3/4 of the edges of my toenail along with it.  It doesn’t hurt but I have it secured with a bandaid because I don’t want it to be snagged off.

I talked with some of our doctors that were out on the floor and they demanded to see my foot as much as I pleaded and begged them not to make me take my sock off because it is quite the ugly sight.  Inevitably, I let them see, polishless, yucky and all and they promptly informed me that I needed to see a podiatrist.  Well, I was in luck.  One of our first assist doctors during surgeries has a son that is a podiatrist just a couple of blocks away so I quickly called him and made an appointment.  My appointment is two weeks from Friday and I have been forbidden to really do anything on my feet but walk.  What?!  You mean no running?  No biking?

Let’s just say, I’m going to be a non-compliant patient with the biking rule.  I don’t think he realizes I just bike to and from work and around downtown.  I’m not out there hardcore biking on a daily basis so I’m going to keep biking to work because my feet and toes never hurt with me biking.  So there!  I have to do something to help me not go stir crazy with being unable to run.

I’m actually wishing this toenail will fall off on it’s own so I don’t have to go see a doctor about it but then again, I need advice on what to do for future marathons and how to treat my feet better as a marathoner.  So please pray that I won’t go crazy from only being able to get in minimal activity for the next 2 1/2 weeks.  It’s going to be hard on me, I just know it.

I’ll obviously be keeping you all updated as I figure out what the verdict is in a couple of weeks.  But just so you know, that’s why you won’t see me doing a ton of running, biking and strength training for the next couple of weeks.  Let’s hope I don’t gain 100 pounds with no activity!

Ok, super long post so I must let you go!  I’ll try and blog in the morning.  We have a nurses appreciation reception in the morning and I’ll try to get pictures but it might be hard.

Trial Parenting

Good evening friends!  Can you believe it’s already the end of the day on Friday?  Why do days off go by so much more quickly than days spent at work?  Boo on that!

After lunch, I ended up laying out on our  rooftop deck for 3 hours!  You better believe I got some good color going on right now.  A little red tint but will turn into a brown tint soon.  🙂

I actually got a cat nap in the sun laying up there today.  And it looks like this buddy got a good nap in the sunshine too.

“Oh, Mom, I’m not ready for my close up right now. Can’t you see I’m trying to nap?”

We ate dinner a little earlier than usual tonight because we were asked to babysit while some of our good friends attended a wedding tonight.  Of course we said yes!  We love babies and babysitting and don’t get to do it very often.

Dinner was a superb success.  We bought some Ahi Tuna fillets at Sam’s Club last week and broke those bad puppies out tonight.

We tried them sauteed.

I had a huge salad on my plate.  The hubs didn’t think I’d be able to fit any other food on there because it was so big!

But I proved him wrong.

We headed out the door and here we are, babysitting!  In other words, trial parenting.

The babe is in bed so it’s not like we have to do everything but we are prepared if she needs anything.  I have arms that are willing to hold and rock!

I brought a sliced apple and some PB for a snack for later since we ate dinner so early.

Always have to be prepared for when hunger strikes!  Ya hear?

Wish us luck as we act as parents for a few hours.  We have a fun, laid back day and night prepared tomorrow.  I’m hoping for a day of sleeping in, picnics, biking, running, etc.  We’ll see what all we can fit in.

I think I might be trying my hand at oatmeal again in the morning.  If you remember, my previous two trials at it failed miserably so suggestions are welcome. 🙂

Unexpected Night

How happy was I when I found out that my hubs meeting was cancelled tonight and I would have a night at home with him?!  So HAPPY!  I know he was happy too!

It’s still yucky outside and supposedly it’s supposed to be cleared up and nice the rest of the week so I’m hoping for good weather to get some nice walks and runs in!  And some bike riding of course.

For dinner tonight we picked up this halved cajun marinated chicken at Whole Foods the other day and we couldn’t wait to cook it up!

I’m all about a big salad!

Some Orville caramel popcorn for a sweet treat.  Just a few fingerfuls and I’m content.

I’m blogging quick tonight because I want to curl up on the couch and spend time with my man.  Life has been extremely busy lately and I just feel overwhelmed with no time to feel like I can breathe.  I have a three day weekend this weekend with no huge plans but a fantastic (much needed) dinner with friends on Saturday.  I so plan on vegging out the rest of the time.

Edited: It took me over an hour to post this because our network has been so slow lately!  I’m so frustrated right now and could use a nice, long run to get the frustration out but bad weather plus late night equals no stress outlet for me but sleep!  See you in the morning!


What a day it has turned out to be. I let my lunch digest for a bit and then got geared up for a run… then the hubs called with bad news. Our MacBook had crashed. Not good, not good at all.

So the hubs got home, we grabbed our external hard drive in hopes of the Apple geniuses to be able to revive our necessity of a computer and headed to the Apple store.

On the way to the store, I took pictures with my camera in the way of the snacks we ate. You won’t be seeing those and I’ll get to that part in a minute. But I know you can use your imagination and picture the Cascadian Farm Organic flax bar I ate on Saturday and my trail mix. The hubs ate one of the two bars that comes in the package and a few almonds.

We arrived at the Apple store and was bummed to find out that our MacBook will be out of commission for a few days. But we were really glad that the hard drive that needs replacing was under a quality investigation so it’s being replaced free of charge and we’re getting an upgrade from 8 gigs to 16 gigs! There’s always a silver lining. So that means you’ll be getting iPhone posts and iPhone quality photos for a few days so hang in there with me!!

We came home and decided since it was so gorgeous outside that it’d be the perfect time to go get my bicycle tuned up. I’m really excited to start biking to and from work again and biking any where near the loft that we need to go.

Safety first: Must wear a helmet!

After the bike was given the okay to ride again it was time to get used to the feeling of biking again. The hubs and I rode a short 5 miles around Old Louisville and headed back home because we were hungry for dinner!

Dinner was a simple grilled chicken breast, broccoli and cheese and peas.

The hubs was also kind enough to give me half of his Sister Schubert’s roll. Oh so good. I love bread!!!

We were really excited for us to be finished with dinner because that meant it was time to pick up a package the Easter bunny had tried to deliver earlier today when we weren’t home.

A bag full of Reese’s Cup eggs, Hershey’s bliss eggs, butterfinger eggs and kit kats for each of us.

My mom is the best! She never fails to make us an Easter basket. Even if she isn’t able to give it to us in person. I love that woman. She’s a pretty special lady. Thanks Mom!!! I’ll enjoy my chocolate as soon as Lent is over!

After we got home it was still pretty early and light outside so I decided a run was definitely in order. I ended up running 2 miles in 19 minutes and then walked a mile to cool down. My legs were feeling it after my bike ride earlier. My legs definitely have got to get used to using those different muscles again for biking.

I came inside, hopped in the shower and ate two mandarins and the rest of my red grapes.

Now I’m settled in for the night after a quite productive unexpected day off. Time to watch The Biggest Loser and be asleep by 10! Hope you had a fabulous Tuesday!
