I'm Lauren and this is a blog dedicated to living life with a healthy balance. I love to run, strength train, bike and just be downright active. I'm a marathoner as of April 24, 2010 and am currently looking forward to qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

I absolutely love to eat and enjoy great food but doing it all in moderation. You'll see healthy, organic foods on here frequently but you'll also run into things such as pizza and sweets. I believe you can have it all... just not all at once.

I'm always learning and discovering new foods, recipes, workouts and ways to live a healthy lifestyle. Join me on my journey towards becoming my healthiest self.

Ten Minutes Earlier

It absolutely amazed me on how waking up and getting out of bed ten minutes earlier made my morning run so much smoother. I found myself with the time to not rush around and speed to work. I loved it. I’m hoping it becomes a daily routine.

Good thing I was nice and early this morning because it gave me time to gather my thoughts and get myself together before immediately hitting the floor at work. Right off the bat we were busy. I think this is going to be the new trend in our Labor & Delivery Unit. Always busy. I, personally, love being busy. Makes for a faster, more interfering day.

I fit in my breakfast that I packed up last night. Kashi honey toasted cereal. I thought about adding a banana but brought it for my afternoon snack instead. The cereal was great. Definitely a winner in my book.

I got to eat lunch a few hours later and within 10 minutes of sitting down to eat, I was called because one of my patient’s was delivering. I definitely wanted to be a part of this particular delivery because I had really bonded with the patient so I shoved what I could in my mouth of my lunch and ran back on the floor.

Not missing the delivery was worth sacrificing every second of the remaining 20 minutes of my lunch break. I got so attached and was glad to be there for this particular family.

I’ve gotta run but just wanted to update quickly. Lot’s going on after work tonight so I’ll see you later when I get a free second!
