    I'm Lauren and this is a blog dedicated to living life with a healthy balance. I love to run, strength train, bike and just be downright active. I'm a marathoner as of April 24, 2010 and am currently looking forward to qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

    I absolutely love to eat and enjoy great food but doing it all in moderation. You'll see healthy, organic foods on here frequently but you'll also run into things such as pizza and sweets. I believe you can have it all... just not all at once.

Another First

The rest of the work day flew by because we got CRAZY busy. Monday’s usually start out pretty slow and end up busy and once again, the theory proved to be correct because we ended up BUSY!!! I’m sure it’ll be a full board when I arrive for duty bright and early in the morning too but I’m not complaining! Makes the days go by faster.

Around 5, I fit in a banana for a snack. No peanut butter with it this time. Just a nanner. Have I said before how much I love bananas? I love them plain, with peanut butter, in cereal, in oatmeal… I just love them!

I knew I needed to go on a run tonight after work so I was trying to mentally psych myself up for it as the 7 o’clock hour drew closer. Before I knew it I was pounding the pavement at 7:35 in cool 37 degree air. My goal tonight was to push it with speed. I stopped a few times to catch my breath after I sprinted hard but overall I finished 3 miles in 27:58 minutes. I love pushing it hard. I’m hoping that I’ll be diligent enough to take an easy run on Wednesday instead of push push push. I’m excited to keep reading on in “Run Less Run Faster” to see what paces I need to push myself to each week. But I am pleased with my time tonight. I can’t complain.

I came inside after my run to a wonderful meal prepared by the hubs. Another first for me in the food tasting department tonight. The hubs grilled up some lamb chops. I’ve never had, nor tasted, lamb before and I was quite pleased. I’ve even packed up some for lunch tomorrow. Chad also grilled asparagus, baked a potato (not pictured and I only ate half), and grilled some Italian bread with sea salt and olive oil. I love that I got my protein intake after my run! Much needed and something I was seriously craving.

I packed up half of everything for lunch tomorrow. I did eat my two lamb chops that were pictured but Chad had set three of them aside for me for lunch tomorrow.

Now it’s time to sit down, drink my cup of hot chocolate, relax for a second before I get in the shower and get ready for bed. Maybe I can get some more reading done before I fall fast asleep.
