I'm Lauren and this is a blog dedicated to living life with a healthy balance. I love to run, strength train, bike and just be downright active. I'm a marathoner as of April 24, 2010 and am currently looking forward to qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

I absolutely love to eat and enjoy great food but doing it all in moderation. You'll see healthy, organic foods on here frequently but you'll also run into things such as pizza and sweets. I believe you can have it all... just not all at once.

I'm always learning and discovering new foods, recipes, workouts and ways to live a healthy lifestyle. Join me on my journey towards becoming my healthiest self.

Ice Ice Go Away

I woke up this morning to all of our melted snow having turned into ice. Bummer. Today was supposed to be my long run day but considering I already was slipping and sliding trying to walk to my car, I probably won’t be running today. I’d rather be safe than go out there and break my ankle. And I don’t feel that bad about missing another long run day because I was comparing the two training plans I was looking at and the running plan I’ve been going by is covering a lot more mileage a week than the other one. So technically, I was only supposed to run 8 miles this week and since I’ve already done 7 miles, I figure this Friday I can push it with 10 miles. I’m hoping the ice continues to melt since the sun is out so I can go on a run after work tomorrow.

If I don’t make it on my run today (which it’s looking like I’m not), then I’m going to hit up some strength training tonight. I’ve been slacking in that area and need to step it up a bit.

We had a great service at Sojourn this morning and afterwards we headed home to eat some lunch. Today we kept it simple with this new Corn Chipotle Bisque that we bought at Whole Foods yesterday.

Pretty good. I added some homemade salsa for a little more spice to cut the sweet taste of it.

A slice of Chad’s leftover supreme pizza from the other night when he was a bachelor for the night while I was girl timing it up.

I’m actually sitting here now contemplating on eating some serious dessert. I don’t just want a tiny piece of chocolate to satisfy my craving, I want something big, chocolatey and fattening. I haven’t really splurged on dessert in a long while so who knows what I’ll end up deciding. Any suggestions?

Enjoy your Sunday!

Question of the Day: What’s your favorite thing to do when it’s so cold outside that it’s freezing?!
